The Soldier’s Skeletons

Like a soldier back from war, the trees stand bold and strong…

but the cruel winter has stripped them layer by layer…

losing their freshness and rich green…

turning old and crispy with each passing day of chill…

yet they shone their colours to the world…

beauty in the eyes of spectators…

only so much could be withstood…

one by one they each fell to the ground…

only to be torn further by those who had once admired them…

Like a skeleton tree they stand though their roots still strong…

Standing with a soldiers hope for a fresh beginning.
